Okanagan

My experience in the Okanagan is that it's mostly a spring/fall sailing location, and best around Pentiction, Osoyoos, and Merritt. Skaha lake often gets a decent spring/fall thermal (4.5 - 5.5m), although at Nicola Lake it is more common. Both can have decent waves and ramps but are a bit gusty. Okanagan sailors often show up at Nicola, as it's a short drive. Osooyos seems to get similar thermals, though a little weaker.
If you google Okanagan Windsurfing you'll find an old website with descriptions of sites. They're helpful for where to access, but optimistic about wind, especially for Okanagan Lake. I've had a few good sessions near Summerland but only by catching frontal winds.
In summary, sailing in the Okanagan is probably pretty good for locals in the spring and fall, but not as reliable as the Gorge or Vancouver Island. Winter is too cold (duh) and summer saiing is fluky. BUT, I've never lived there, so others may have better info.

I would not move to the Okanagan thinking that you'll be able to windsurf regularly at the weekends. I live in Kelowna and even during the Spring/Autumn there is generally only enough wind for the kitesurfers to have fun. I often see windsurfers go out but struggle with the level of wind, even if it feels quite windy by Kelowna standards on the beach. During the summer, there's hardly any wind at all. I windsurf but I have not invested in equipment on the move to Kelowna as it seems like I'd rarely get to use it. The closest decent windsurfing destinations are probably Squamish, Vancouver Island and the Gorge... not particularly close unfortunately.
